Humanities’ greatest treks are to the unknown, and making life multiplanetary is the closest “unknown” we can achieve today. Landing man on Mars, as incomprehensible as that sounds, is likely to be achieved within the next decade. If that appears far-stretching, Elon Musk just unveiled his plan to land a manned spaceship on the “Red Planet” as early as 2024 at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Adelaide, Australia yesterday.

At first, privatized-space travel was scoffed at. Aerospace legends, men at the pinnacle of human space exploration for decades, dismissed Musk’s visions since the onset. These were the same men that inspired him to become who he is today. Although those hits were crushing, he stayed true to his vision and began to achieve the unthinkable, like successfully landing reusable rockets repeatedly.

So, we certainly aren’t betting against this man, his goals and his company, and if you watch his vision for the ultimate travel below, we doubt you’ll be able to either.
