Placing yourself in a totally foreign place, free of any familiarity, creates a comprehensive learning environment. Everything is new: culture, people, sights, sounds, language. The list can go on. These new destinations, bring on new experiences — the core of why people travel. Making the unknown known is important in life, and that’s what these experiences do. A great one, specifically in a gorgeous beach destination like Kahului, Maui that’s featured in Paradigm Lost, is surfing.

First timers aren’t going to be pros, they’re barely going to be able to stand on the board, if at all. That’s not the point though. It’s about gaining that understanding and appreciation for what it takes to just stand up on that board, as well as a new respect for pro surfing. It could also even spurn a new-found love or hobby in your life. While you’re not going to be dropping in on the 20-plus-foot waves that are featured in this film, you’ve got to start somewhere right? Why not let it be during your next vacation? Check out the film’s trailer for far more inspiration than we can properly provide.
