Before deployment, enlistees browse through the Military Occupation Speciality book that details all the service positions. They’ll be stationed at bases across the globe, some of which are ideally positioned both for culture and their natural beauty. These five stations below offer all both and much more, enhancing soldiers’ experiences in the military, as well as their family’s when they visit.

1. US Army Garrison Stuttgart: Stuttgart, Germany
Famous for its astounding beer, Germany is also home to beautiful people. Stuttgart specifically is known as the “cradle of automobile” and is the headquarters of many car manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Bosch. A hidden treasure at the Porsche Museum, Restaurant Christophorus serves mouthwatering prime beef that makes cafeteria food at other museums seem simple.

2. Naval Support Activity Naples: Naples, Italy
As one of the oldest cities in the world, Naval Support Activity Naples is strategically located in an airport that allows soldiers to spend their time off roaming through Europe. The musical city is known for its romantic guitar and mandolin, which sets just the right mood for an intimate evening in town. Soccer fans might even find themselves tempted to switch teams, rooting for two-time Serie A winner S.S.C. Napoli, and non-sporty people will learn (be forced) to love the game here.

3. Fort Buchanan: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Living in the vibrant city of San Juan is guaranteed to be one happiest times of your life. Soldiers stationed at Buchanan can explore the maze of El Morro, as well as other sights. The unique location in the Caribbean allows for island hopping to places such as Anguilla, St. Lucia and Barbados. During your time in deployment, bathe in the harmonious sun, stroll through the colorful streets and create endless memories with your new family.

4. Marine Corps Base Hawaii: Oahu, Hawaii
Oahu has earned its title of being the second home to many marines. As the third largest island in Hawaii, Oahu translates to “The Gathering Place,” a fitting moniker for a military station. Oahu is also the 20th largest island in the country, formed after the explosion of two shield volcanoes. The resulting landscape, filled with scenic mountains, valleys and beaches, is absolutely breathtaking.

5. Yongsan Garrison: Seoul, South Korea
Former military personnel stationed in Seoul always have a different story to tell about their time in the capital of South Korea. It renowned as one of the best deployment destinations with an appealing metropolitan lifestyle and nightlife scene. The atmosphere that Seoul emits gives soldiers a breath of fresh air amidst the often stressful military lifestyle. Positive diplomatic relations between the United States and South Korea foster friendships between soldiers of both countries, allowing American’s to make a second home in Seoul.
